HOUSTON (ICIS)--Momentive Performance Materials plans to expand capacities for silanes at its sites in ?xml:namespace>
Momentive said the expansions will help meet growing demand from its global customers, particularly in
Momentive plans to increase capacity for amino silanes at Sistersville and for vinyl silanes at Termoli. The company expects to complete the expansions in 2012.
In addition, Momentive will resume production for trimethoxysilane, epoxy silane and methacryl silane at Sistersville before the end of the year, it said.
Momentive's silanes are used in a range of industries and applications, including tyres, coatings, adhesives and sealants, construction, durable goods and electronics.
“Our customers in the plastic additives, adhesives, sealants, tyre and coatings and other industries are increasingly turning to our cutting-edge silanes formulations to provide enhanced performance characteristics in their end products,” said Rich Owins, Momentive’s global business director for silanes.
Financial and capacity details were not disclosed.
In addition to Sistersville and Termoli, Momentive produces silane additives in
Momentive Performance Materials is the sister company of Momentive Specialty Chemicals.
