Taiwan’s Formosa to restart crude units at Mailiao refinery

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Taiwan’s Formosa Petrochemical Corp (FPCC) is expected to restart an 180,000 bbl/day No 2 crude distillation unit (CDU) at its 540,000 bbl/day refinery in Mailiao by the end of August, sources familiar with the situation said on Thursday.

The No 3 crude unit of 180,000 bbl/day of the refinery is likely to be restarted in early September, they added.

The refinery was shut at the end of July following a fire at a pipeline in the Mailiao complex.

There was no immediate comment from the company on the restart schedule.

FPCC restarted the No 1 crude distillation unit of similar capacity on 21 August.
