Thailand’s PTT Chemical restarts ethane cracker

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Thailand’s PTT Chemical restarted its 1m tonne/year ethane cracker at Map Ta Phut on Wednesday following a turnaround that began last month, a company source said on Thursday.

The cracker was shut on 15 July for maintenance and was slated to resume operation this week.

Discussions about selling a September-loading ethylene spot cargo have stalled because of a buy-sell gap, the source said.

The company was targeting sales at above $1,100/tonne (€759/tonne) FOB (free on board) SE Asia, but buying interest is below this level, the source added.
