BUCHAREST (ICIS)--Romania's AdePlast will start production at its new expandable polystyrene (EPS) unit in Ploiesti on 1 September, the company said on Friday.

"The unit has a capacity of 700,000 cubic metres/year and it follows to an investment worth to some €4m," Marcel Barbut, manager of AdePlast told ICIS.

Barbut added: "In Romania, the high energy prices have led to sustained strong demand for EPS insulation and an increased interest for western quality standards for external building insulation in the construction industry. We are therefore planning for further investment in this area."

AdePlast is a leading Romanian construction materials producer. The company registered a net profit of €3.1m ($4.4m) in 2010 with a turnover of €30m.
