LONDON (ICIS)--Eni has signed a memorandum with Libya’s National Transitional Council (NTC) in a bid to speed up restoration of the company’s operations there, the Italian energy giant said on Monday.
“Eni and NTC are committed to creating the conditions for a rapid and complete recovery of Eni's activities in Libya,” Eni said in a statement.
The two parties will do everything necessary to restart operations on the Greenstream pipeline, bringing gas from the Libyan coast to Italy, the company added.
The NTC has become the country’s de facto government and is recognised by Italy and the international community.
Eni has provided an initial supply of refined petroleum products to the NTC, it said, adding that it will also provide technical assistance to assess the state of facilities and the energy infrastructure.
