SAO PAULO (ICIS)--Brazil recycled 282,000 tonnes of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) in 2010, up 7.6% year on year, the local PET industry Association (Abipet) said on Tuesday.

According to Abipet, Brazil is ranked among the top global PET recyclers in terms of volumes, sustained by the country’s high demand for PET products.

However, the association said it is still difficult for the industry to have access to used PET as the country’s system for collecting recyclables needs improvement.
