China’s Henan Kaixiang Chemical starts up Yima BDO plant

GUANGZHOU (ICIS)--China’s Henan Kaixiang Chemical started up its new 45,000 tonne/year 1,4-butanediol (BDO) plant at Yima city, Henan province, on 29 August and achieved on-spec production on the same day, a company source said on Wednesday.

The producer is currently constructing a second 45,000 tonne/year BDO plant at the same site and expects to begin operations at the unit by late October 2012, according to the source.

The total cost of the two plants is estimated at around yuan (CNY) 1.6bn ($251m), she added.

Henan Kaixiang mainly engages in the production and sale of methanol and dimethyl ether (DME).
