China’s Bohai to build methanol-to-olefins plant in Tianjin

TIANJIN (ICIS)--China’s Bohai Chemical Industry Group plans to build a 3.6m tonne/year methanol-to-olefins (MTO) facility at Tianjin in north China for completion in 2014 or 2015, a company source said on Thursday.

The MTO facility will be able to produce 1.2m tonnes/year of olefins, the source said.

He was speaking on the sidelines of the three-day China Petroleum and Chemical International Conference in Tianjin which ends on Friday.

Bohai is in discussions with a few local and foreign companies for the supply of methanol, he added.
