HOUSTON (ICIS)--Fujian Meide Petrochemical plans to build a propane dehydrogenation (PDH) unit with a capacity of 660,000 tonnes/year of propylene in China's Fujian province, US industrial group Honeywell said on Thursday.

Honeywell, whose UOP petrochemicals engineering business will provide its technologies for the project, said the unit is expected to start up in 2014.

“It will be the largest propane dehydrogenation unit in the world to date,” Honeywell added.

It did not disclose financial details.

Fujian Meide Petrochemical is a subsidiary of China Packing Group Company, which is headquartered at Fuzhou City in Fujian province.

In related news, ICIS reported on Thursday that China’s Tianjin Bohai Chemical Industry Group plans to build two more PDH units in Tianjin, where it already has a 600,000 tonne/year PDH unit under construction for start-up in 2013.
