SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Thailand’s PTT Asahi Chemical is again delaying the start-up of its 70,000 tonne/year methyl methacrylate (MMA) plant at Map Ta Phut, until the end of October, a company source said on Friday.

The company was hoping to start commercial operation at the plant in early September – already a delay from the original July schedule, the source said.

Commissioning of the MMA unit started in May.

Thai oil and gas major PTT and Japan’s Asahi Kasei Chemicals own a 48.5% stake each in the MMA plant, while Japanese trading house Marubeni owns the remaining 3%.
