HOUSTON (ICIS)--US-based ethanol producer Guardian Lima opened its 54m gal/year (204m litres/year) ethanol facility in Lima, Ohio, the company said on Thursday.

The facility, formally Greater Ohio Ethanol, began operations in 2008 but became idle that November after filing for bankruptcy due to operational challenges and adverse financial market conditions.

Guardian Lima acquired majority stake in the ethanol production facility in 2010, and retained ethanol technology provider ICM to lead a retrofit and upgrade of the plant.
