SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s RealSunChem is preparing to start test runs at its new 12,000 tonne/year gamma-butyrolactone (GBL) line at Zhejiang province in October,  a company source said Monday.

RealSunChem is at present in the final stages of connecting its new GBL line equipment, the source said.

The company is expecting to produce on-spec material by early November if test runs at its new GBL line are successful, the source said.

The company has an existing 12,000 tonne/year GBL line at the same petrochemical site.

RealSunChem is seeking a 1,000-tonne bulk butanediol cargo to build up its feedstock inventory, the source said.

The company is prepared to pay $3,200/tonne (€2,336/tonne) CFR (cost and freight) China for a cargo that can be delivered in late-October or early November, he added.

RealSunChem has purchased last week a 100 tonnes of butanediol at yuan (CNY) 24,500/tonne delivered.
