LONDON (ICIS)--Saudi Aramco has selected designs and technologies from ?xml:namespace>
Axens said it is in charge of designing four of the refinery's processing units: naphtha hydrotreating; continuous catalytic reforming for aromatics production; C5/C6 isomerisation; and a unit to produce high purity paraxylene and benzene.
“These units are designed and integrated to maximise the gasoline production and the aromatics throughput for petrochemical use,” the French petrochemicals technologies company said.
In addition, the refinery’s gas oil desulphurisation hydrotreater is also under Axens' design, it added.
Saudi Aramco expects to commission the Jazan refinery project in December 2016, Axens said.
Earlier this year, US-based petrochemicals engineering firm KBR said it won a contract from Saudi Aramco for the project’s front-end engineering and design work.
