Argentina August chemical production up 3.5% year on year

HOUSTON (ICIS)--Argentina’s August chemical production was 3.5% higher year on year, compared with the same month of 2010, an industry group said on Friday.                 

Production of basic chemical products was down by 3.9% in August compared with the same month a year ago, said Argentina’s Statistics Institute (INDEC). The institute does not provide tonnage figures for production.

Production of industrial gases was up in August by 1.1% year on year, the group said.

Production of plastic raw materials and synthetic rubber rose by 2.5% in August compared with the same month of 2010.

Agrochemicals production was up by 3.4% in August, while production of pharmaceutical products was up by 10.2% year on year.

Production of detergents, soaps and personal products decreased in August by 5.3% compared with August 2010.

Meanwhile, plastic products and rubber tyres production combined grew by 2.9% in August year on year. Rubber tyre production had a 1.6% increase. August production of plastic products grew by 3.2% year on year, INDEC said.
