Italy's Eni resumes oil production at Libya's Abu Attifel field

ItalyLONDON (ICIS)--Italian energy giant Eni has restarted crude oil production at Libya’s Abu Attifel field, Libya’s National Oil Corporation (NOC) said on Tuesday.

Oil production at the field began on Monday and a rate of around 30,000 bbl/day has been achieved. 

According to NOC more wells at the field will be re-activated to raise production in the next 48 to 72 hours.

Production at the field before the Libyan civil war was around 70,000 bbl/day, according to trading sources. 

Operations at the field are run by local oil company Mellitah Oil & Gas, a joint venture between NOC and Eni.

The Abu Attifel oil field is around 300km (186 miles) south of Benghazi.
