SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Taiwan’s Kaohsiung Monomer Co (KMC) plans to shut its 90,000 tonne/year methyl methacrylate (MMA) plant at the end of October, a company source said on Thursday.
The MMA plant, which is located at Da-Sheh industry zone in Kaohsiung, may be shut for 18 days, the source said.
The shutdown may be extended by another seven days on feedstock issues, but this has not yet been finalised, the source added, without giving further details.
The plant is running at reduced rates at the moment, to allow the producer to coordinate feedstock supply with its upstream supplier.
KMC is a joint venture between Lucite International and China Petrochemical Development Corp (CPDC).
