HOUSTON (ICIS)--Enterprise Products Partners has started commissioning a new natural gas liquids (NGL) fractionation unit at its Mont Belvieu complex in Texas, the US-based midstream energy services company said on Friday.
The unit is on schedule for service by the fourth quarter, a company spokesman said. Once fully operational, the unit will have a capacity of 75,000 bbl/day, boosting the Mont Belvieu site’s overall capacity to 380,000 barrels/day.
“It was designed to handle growing production from the Rockies and other areas”, like the Eagle Ford shale in south Texas, said Enterprise spokesman Rick Rainey.
Enterprise also has plans for a sixth fractionation unit at the Mont Belvieu site.
That fractionator will add also a 75,000 bbl/day capacity at Mont Belvieu and is projected to begin service in early 2013, Enterprise said.
The unit will boost Enterprise’s fractionation capacity at Mont Belvieu in excess of 450,000 bbl/day, the company added.
