BERLIN (ICIS)--Shell Chemicals will close its 2B cracker at Wesseling in Germany in November, market sources said on the sidelines of the 45th annual European Petrochemical Association (EPCA) meeting on Sunday.
Shell Chemicals had announced its decision to close the 240,000 tonne/year cracker, one of two owned by Shell at the site, in September 2010, but did not outline the timing, stating only that it would close by the end of 2011.
The 2A cracker has the capacity to produce 260,000 tonnes/year of ethylene, according to ICIS plants and projects data.
