BERLIN (ICIS)--US TPC Group plans to start production at an on-purpose butadiene (BD) facility in Houston in 2015, a company executive said on Monday.

The permit for the 600m lb/year  (270,000 tonnes/year) unit will be filed early next year, said Russell T. Crockett, Jr., the company’s commercial senior vice president.

A conservative estimate is that it could take between one to two years to get the permit and another two years to start production, Crockett said on the sidelines of the 45th annual European Petrochemical Association (EPCA) meeting in Berlin.

The project, which will be coupled with a new TPC Group Oxo-D production unit, will use butane as its primary feedstock.
