HOUSTON (ICIS)--US polycarbonate (PC) prices were assessed down 5 cents/lb for all grades for the week ended on Wednesday on falling raw material costs and weaker demand.
The range was assessed by ICIS at $1.60-1.75/lb. ($3,527/tonne, €2,645/tonne) for GP moulding and GP extrusion grades in bulk and $1.70-1.85/lb for GP moulding and GP extrusion in package.
Prices may retreat to where they were a year ago, as many buyers believe feedstock costs for producers will continue to decrease. Prices a year ago were 10 to 15 cents/lb lower on all grades of PC.
Market players are seeing movement from producers to buyers in amounts needed to satisfy in-hand job orders, with buyers being extremely cautious.
North American PC suppliers include Adell, Styron, Bayer, SABIC Innovative Plastics, and Network and Diamond Polymers,
