HOUSTON (ICIS)--US-based energy and petrochemicals firm Williams has halted ethylene production at its Geismar cracker in Louisiana following unexpected technical problems, a company source said on Thursday.
The unit is expected to remain down for 10–14 days, the source said.
Williams would not comment on whether there was a force majeure declaration, as this was a matter for discussion between the company and its customers, the source explained.
The Geismar olefins plant is a light-end natural gas liquid (NGL) cracker that has an annual ethylene production of 1.35bn lb/year (612,000 tonnes/year).
