HOUSTON (ICIS)--Formosa Plastics plans to restart its Point Comfort olefins II cracker in Texas next week, the company said on Tuesday.

The 816,000 tonne/year unit was taken off line on 1 September for what had been initially anticipated to be a 40-day turnaround.

The turnaround is scheduled to end on 15 October, and the company expects to resume production sometime early next week, a spokesperson said.

Formosa has another cracker in Point Comfort, olefins I, which remained in operation during the shutdown, and has 680,000 tonnes/year of ethylene capacity.
