China’s Zhongyuan Petchem to shut solvent plant for maintenance

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Zhongyuan Petrochemical, a subsidiary of Sinopec, is planning to shut down its 50,000 tonne/year solvent oil plant at Zhongyuan in Henan province on 15 October for maintenance, a company source said on Thursday.

The maintenance is scheduled to last one month, said the source.

The shutdown of the plant will have little impact on solvent oil supplies in north China, because another major producer in the region, Sinopec Luoyang Petrochemical, will restart its 40,000 tonne/year solvent oil plant in late October, an industry source said.

Local demand has been weak after the National Day Holiday (1-7 October) because buyers have been bearish, he added.
