HOUSTON (ICIS)--US imports of ammonia in August increased by 18% compared with the same month one year ago, according to data made available on Thursday by the US International Trade Commission (ITC).
Imports of ammonia totalled 596,600 tonnes in August - up from the 505,577 tonnes imported in August 2010, and from the 557,768 tonnes imported in July 2011, according to the ITC data.
Trinidad and Tobago, at 308,455 tonnes, was the top source for ammonia, followed by Canada at 100,689 tonnes, Ukraine at 91,674 tonnes and Russia at 52,664 tonnes.
Other sources of ammonia included Venezuela, Turkey, Belgium, Korea and China.
US importers of ammonia include PotashCorp, Mosaic, CF Industries, Yara, Agrium and Koch.
