HOUSTON (ICIS)--US butyl acetate (butac) exports in August fell by 6% to 5,815 tonnes from 6,192 tonnes in the same month last year, according to data released on Thursday by the US International Trade Commission (ITC).
Brazil accounted for all of the decline and then some, receiving only 380 tonnes in August compared with 950 tonnes in the same month of 2010, according to the data.
The top four export destinations included Mexico, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), India and France. Those nations collectively took 3,996 tonnes or 69% of total US butac exports.
Major US butac producers include Dow Chemical, Eastman Chemical and Oxea Group.
