LONDON (ICIS)--A Schulman will take over acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) distribution for the newly independent producer ELIX Polymers from 17 October, the companies said in a joint press statement on Friday.
US-headquartered compounder and distributor A Schulman will take over nationwide distribution rights and key-account support in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, the Benelux countries, France, Great Britain and Scandinavia for the Spanish ABS producer.
A Schulman has experience of handling distribution of ABS types from ELIX, which are marketed under the tradenames Lustran and Novodur.
“The alliance formed between these two strong partners opens up new opportunities in the plastics market,” the companies said in the statement.
ELIX recently became an independent ABS producer when Swiss-headquartered INEOS was required to divest its 180,000 tonne/year plant in Tarragona, Spain, as part of the Styrolution joint venture between INEOS and Germany’s BASF.
