HOUSTON (ICIS)--Formosa Plastics’ Point Comfort olefins II cracker in Texas was running at an 85% production rate on Monday following a restart during the weekend, the company said.
Company spokesman Steve Rice said the start-up process took less time than previously expected. The company earlier said it planned to restart the unit this week. Rice said the unit was expected to reach full production on Tuesday.
The 816,000 tonne/year unit was taken off line for maintenance on 1 September.
Formosa has another cracker in Point Comfort, olefins I, which remained in operation during the shutdown, and has 680,000 tonnes/year of ethylene capacity.
