China's Luoyang Zhonggui runs polysilicon plant at 8,000 t/yr

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Luoyang Zhonggui is currently running its Henan-based solar polysilicon plant at around 8,000 tonnes/year, on target to achieve the unit's designed capacity of 10,000 tonnes/year by the end of 2011, a source close to the company said on Wednesday.

Earlier this year, the plant’s designed capacity was 5,000 tonnes/year, the source said.

Some solar polysilicon producers in China with capacity of 3,000 tonnes/year and below are struggling with falling polysilicon prices that have eroded margins, because of heftier base cost, industry sources said.
