HOUSTON (ICIS)--LyondellBasell's Channelview crackers in Texas were down on Friday as a result of an overnight power outage, market sources said.
The company has two crackers at the site with a combined 1.75m tonnes/year of ethylene capacity.
The crackers could remain off line for two weeks, a market source said.
A LyondellBasell spokesperson declined to comment, citing company policy.
US ethylene for November traded on Friday at 52.000 cents/lb ($1,146/tonne, €837/tonne), up from 48.750 cents/lb on Monday.
One market participant said the shutdown in Channelview was likely lending support to ethylene prices.
