GUANGZHOU (ICIS)--China’s Sinopec Yangzi Petrochemical plans to restart its 100,000 tonne/year butadiene (BD) plant at Nanjing in Jiangsu province at the end of October following a maintenance shutdown, its parent Sinopec said on Wednesday.

The company shut the plant on 13 October for a turnaround and also because of feedstock shortage, Sinopec said in a newsletter on its website.

Yangzi Petrochemical entered into an agreement with Shanghai SECCO Petrochemical in early October to get around 6,000 tonnes of mixed butylenes (C4) feedstock from the latter each month for its BD production, Sinopec said.

The company’s previous mixed C4 supplier, BASF-YPC, stopped its supply in September as it needs to keep the material for captive use at its130,000 tonne/year BD plant at Nanjing, Sinopec added.
