HOUSTON (ICIS)--The Houston Ship Channel remained open to traffic after a chemical tanker collided with a container ship on Saturday, the US Coast Guard said.
The Elka Apollon, a 799-foot chemical tanker, collided with the Nederland, a 782-foot containership, on Saturday morning at the Bayport Ship Channel and Houston Ship Channel, the Coast Guard said.
Three containers fell from the Nederland onto the deck of the Elka Apollon. One of the containers, containing tractor equipment, had leaked a small amount of hydraulic fluid onto the deck, the Coast Guard said.
There were no reported injuries.
