SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Oriental Petrochemical is running its 600,000 tonne/year purified terephathalic acid (PTA) unit in Shanghai at 60-70% because of mechanical problems, a company source said on Friday.
The unit was restarted on 30 October after it was shut down for 23 days for maintenance and debottlenecking.
The company will only be able to increase the production capacity by 100,000 tonnes in late December as it waits for the necessary facilities to be available, the source said without elaborating further.
