Nov Argentina PVC prices drop by $80/tonne on weaker demand

HOUSTON (ICIS)--Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) domestic prices in Argentina decreased by $80/tonne in November on weaker demand caused by pressure from global market dynamics, market participants said on Friday.

Before the November drop, October prices were assessed at $1,350-to $1,500/tonne (€972-1080/tonne) DEL (delivered) for pipe-grade material.

PVC prices in Argentina had already decreased by $50/tonne in October from September.

Demand was weak in recent weeks, largely resulting from buyer expectations of lower prices for November, according to sources.

Concerns over the global economy, the eurozone crisis and turbulent financial markets contributed to weakening markets in Argentina and the rest of Latin America, participants said.
