BUENOS AIRES (ICIS)--Argentina-based refiner and petrochemical producer YPF plans to build a 45,000 tonne/year maleic anhydride plant at its complex in Ensenada, company sources said on Tuesday.

YPF is now calling for bids for the technology for the plant, the sources said on the sidelines of the 31st Latin American Petrochemical Association (APLA) annual meeting in Buenos Aires.

The company already has secured the feedstock normal butane for the new plant, they said.

The plant could start up by 2015, the sources added.

YPF currently produces 17,000 tonnes/year at an existing plant in Ensenada.

APLA ends on Tuesday.
