APLA '11: Conference ending with record 892 delegates

BUENOS AIRES (ICIS)--The 31st Latin American Petrochemical Association (APLA) meeting was drawing to an end in Buenos Aires on Tuesday with a record 892 delegates, the event organiser said.

The previous record was set in 2007, also in Argentina, when 823 delegates participated of the conference.

The annual event is usually held in early November in Argentina, Mexico or Brazil.

Talk circulated at the conference that Brazil will host the 2012 conference, but an APLA official declined to comment, saying an announcement would be made later in the day.

APLA had previously hinted it wanted to take the conference to Colombia, but the official said that was unlikely to happen next year.

Brazil last hosted the event in 2010, when 815 delegates attended the conference in Rio de Janeiro.
