US Rockwood starts up butyllithium operation in India

HOUSTON (ICIS)--Rockwood’s Chemetall business unit has started up a butyllithium operation in ?xml:namespace>India’s Gujarat state that will supply lithium products to India and other markets in the region, the US-based specialty chemicals firm said on Wednesday.
Financial or capacity details were not disclosed.
Butyllithium is used as an initiator for anionic polymerisation and as a base in organic, pharmaceutical or agrochemical syntheses.
Chemetall supplies producers of active pharmaceutical ingredients, as well as numerous generic drug manufacturers, Rockwood said.
