Brazil’s Petrobras to increase biodiesel capacity by 12% in 2012

PORTO ALEGRE, Brazil (ICIS)--Petrobras plans to increase its biodiesel production capacity by 12% to 2.9bn litres in 2012 from 2.6bn litres in 2011 the company said on Thursday.
The capacity increase would make Petrobras an industry leader in biodiesel production, said Miguel Rossetto, president of Petrobras Biocombustiveis.
However, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development and UN’s Nation’s Food and Agricultural Organization (OECD-FAO) said in an agricultural outlook that Argentina will be an industry leader, accounting for about 25% (3.2bn of litres) of total biodiesel produced in developing countries and 8% of global biodiesel production by 2020.By: Leo Siqueira
