HOUSTON (ICIS)--US pipeline company Trunkline will purge about 1.7m cubic feet of natural gas as a result of replacing over 700ft of pipeline for the construction of state Highway 99 in Harris County, according to a report filed on Friday to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
The release of the gas is necessary to prevent a flammable mixture of gas and air in the pipeline, Trunkline said.
“The section of pipeline will be isolated and only enough gas will be purged to remove all air from the pipeline,” the company said. “The release will occur approximately 1/4 mile north of Clay Road intersection on Katy Hockley Cutoff in Harris County.”
The purging will start at 12:00 hours Houston time and end at 13:00 on Friday, according to the report filed with the TCEQ.
