China to hit 12m tonnes/yr methanol blended gasoline by end 2015

SHANGHAI (ICIS)--China is expected to achieve a capacity of 12m tonnes/year of methanol-blended gasoline by the end of 2015, an official from China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation (CPCIF) said on Thursday.

The capacity of methanol-blended fuel will be more than 12m tonnes/year by the end of 2015, the official added.

M15 methanol-blended gasoline will make up the biggest share of the total capacity, the official said.

By the end of 2020, China will achieve a capacity of 100m tonnes/year of methanol-blended fuel, the official added.

The official did not disclose the current capacity of methanol-blended gasoline or methanol-blended fuel.

M15 methanol-blended gasoline contains 15% methanol and 85% gasoline.
