INEOS delays restart of UK 280,000 tonne/year ACN plant

LONDON (ICIS)--INEOS is delaying the restart of its 280,000 tonne/year acrylonitrile (ACN) plant at Seal Sands, UK, by 10 days because of labour issues, a company source said on Friday.

The site was originally scheduled to come back on line on 21 November after a 40-day scheduled maintenance, but is now slated to restart on 1 December.

The delay is not expected to cause much disruption in the market, as weak demand from the downstream acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) sector has created an ACN surplus.
