“The unit is expected to restart [in a month’s time], so we have cancelled our contracts for December,” the source said.
“The downstream 240,000 tonne/year expandable polystyrene (EPS) unit at the same location will be run normally,” the source added.
“However, the demand from end-users is weak so the operating rate at the EPS unit is just around 50% capacity,” the source said.

The largest producer of the product is Shanghai SECCO Petrochemical with a capacity of 650,000 tonnes/year, followed by Zhenhai Lyondell Chemicals, with a capacity of 620,000 tonnes/year.
