LONDON (ICIS)--Wacker Chemie has expanded its technical centre in Mumbai, India, to include dispersion applications for coatings, the Munich-based chemical company said on Thursday.

The German firm said the measure will bolster its position in the market for vinyl acetate-ethylene copolymer dispersions used as binders for coatings and paint applications.

“The expansion of our technical centre is another milestone in our growth strategy,” said Raman Trikala, managing director Wacker Chemie India.

Financial details of the expansion were not disclosed by the company.

Wacker said it will continue to invest in its Indian technical centre to augment and refine its applications technology and customer service in the region.

In November 2009, Wacker first opened an office building and a technical centre for silicone and polymer applications in Mumbai to strengthen its presence in India.
