LONDON (ICIS)--Purac has opened a liaison office in Mumbai, India, as part of its strategy to have a presence in the main global markets, the Netherlands-based specialty chemicals producer said on Thursday.

The office officially opened on Monday 14 November and will act as a communication channel between its Singapore office and its Indian customers, Purac said.

"This enables us to better understand and explore the local market and also work closely together with our customers” said CEO Fabrizio Rampinelli.

India is a large and growing market, offering many opportunities for our food ingredients as well as for our biobased chemicals and bioplastics businesses. Therefore we want to be present in this emerging market with our own team” said Frank Goovaerts, Managing Director in Asia-Pacific.

Purac is a subsidiary of Dutch firm CSM.
