SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Taiwan Prosperity Chemical Corp (TPCC) plans to shut its 100,000 tonne/year bisphenol A (BPA) facility on 24 December for scheduled maintenance, a company source said on Friday.
The plant, which is located at Kaohsiung, will remain off line until 8 January, the source said.
TPCC has slashed operating rates at the BPA unit to 60% in view of prevailing weak market conditions, the source added.
Its upstream phenol/acetone plant is also scheduled for annual maintenance from 25 December to 5 January. The plant can produce 360,000 tonnes/year of phenol and 220,000 tonnes/year of acetone.
