Austria’s Borealis makes offer to acquire fertilizer firm PEC-Rhin

LONDON (ICIS)--Borealis has made a firm offer to buy fertilizer producer GPN’s joint venture business PEC-Rhin, the the Austria-based polyolefins company said on Friday.

PEC-Rhin is an equally owned joint venture between GPN and Germany-based chemical major BASF. It produces nitrogen fertilizers and nitric acid at its site in Ottmarsheim, France.

Borealis said GPN recently used its pre-emption right to obtain the remaining 50% stake from BASF.

Borealis did not disclose any financial details of the deal.

GPN is a subsidiary of Total Chemicals.
