HOUSTON (ICIS)--Argentina’s October chemical production was down by 0.2% year on year, industry sources said on Monday.
Growth was anaemic in most sectors and some showed a decline relative to the same month of 2010.
Production of basic chemical products was down by 0.9% in October compared with the same month a year ago, said Argentina’s Statistics Institute (INDEC). The institute does not provide tonnage figures for production.
Production of industrial gases was up in October by 0.1% year on year, the group said.
Production of plastic raw materials and synthetic rubber rose by 2.3% in October compared with the same month of 2010.
Agrochemicals production was down by 2.1% in October, while production of pharmaceutical products was up by 0.1% year on year.
Production of detergents, soaps and personal products rose in October by 0.3% compared with October 2010.
Meanwhile, plastic products and rubber tyres production combined grew by 0.5% in October. Rubber tyre production increased by 2.9%, while October production of plastic products grew by 0.1%, INDEC said.
