US propylene output falls 4% year on year in October - consultant

HOUSTON (ICIS)--US propylene production in October totalled 860m lb (390,000 tonnes), a 4% drop from 900m lb produced in the same month in 2010, consulting firm Jacobs Consultancy said on Wednesday.

Propylene production in October also fell by nearly 4% compared with 893m lb in September, the group said in its monthly Hodson report.

Measured on daily rate, US propylene production last month was down by 7% versus September, according to the report.

US crackers operated at 87.6% of capacity in October, down from 89.3% in September but up from 87.2% in October 2010, the report showed.
