US Q3 ethylene production falls 0.6% year on year – NPRA

HOUSTON (ICIS)--US ethylene production in the third quarter fell by 0.6% to 13.75bn lb (6.2m tonnes) year on year, but rose by 4.0% compared with the second quarter of 2011, according to data received by ICIS on Wednesday from the National Petrochemical & Refiners Association (NPRA).

Ethylene inventories in the third quarter stood at 982.5m lb, up by 47.9% from the same quarter of 2010.

Third-quarter ethylene stockpiles rose by 4.2% compared with 942.6m lb in the second quarter, the group said.

NPRA's quarterly data for ethylene is based on voluntary reports.
