HOUSTON (ICIS)--US refinery company Tesoro announced on Monday a $180m (€133m) expansion of its Salt Lake City refinery in Utah.
The expansion will increase crude oil throughput capacity by 7%. It also will more than double the refinery’s capacity of transportation-advantaged black wax and yellow wax crude oil to 21m bbl/day.
The project will be complete by 2014, Tesoro said.
Additionally, Tesoro has entered into a crude oil supply agreement with Newfield Exploration Company to provide 18m bbl/day of black wax and yellow wax crude oil beginning in 2013. The agreement is for seven years.
Tesoro did not provide financial details of the deal.
