S Korea’s SK Global Chem running Ulsan PX/OX units “normally”

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--South Korea’s SK Global Chemical is running its two paraxylene (PX) and orthoxylene (OX) units in Ulsan “normally”, despite an outage that crippled most of the Ulsan refinery and petrochemical complex, a company source said on Tuesday.

“We have enough MX [mixed xylenes] to run the PX and OX units normally until the end of this week,” the source said.

SK Global can produce a total of 750,000 tonnes/year of PX and 200,000 tonnes/year of OX at its facilities in Ulsan.

“We will assess the situation once we know how long the upstream units will take to restart,” he added.
